Jindabyne locals and lovers, there’s a new event coming your way this winter, and it’s shaping up to be a seriously great time for an equally great cause.

Disabled Wintersport Australia (DWA) have been Australia’s Adaptive Winter experts since 1978, and their major fundraiser WINTERFUN’d is coming to the Jindabyne Memorial Hall on Saturday 17th August.

Join Olympic and Paralympic athletes Sami Kennedy-Sim, Sam Tait, Victoria Pendergast and Patrick Jensen for a family friendly night of live entertainment, prizes, food, drinks and fund raising.

A hundred percent of profits raised will be going towards equipment, vehicles and ski programs for people with disabilities to find freedom on the snow. This includes Zoom Chairs (electric all-terrain vehicles) for Perisher and Thredbo, along with Junior Development Ski and Snowboard Programs for kids with disabilities.

Tickets are selling fast, so consider yourself warned.

Why should I help?

From those to have never seen the snow to Paralympians, DWA provides equal opportunity and pathways to all for finding freedom; whether that’s playing in the snow to learning how to sit ski.

One in five Australians currently identify as having a disability.

If that statistic surprises you, remember that this could include visual impermanent, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, acquired brain injury or even mental health.

DWA has over 1000 members who utlise and rely on their services and equipment, along with staff and volunteer guides. By supporting WINTERFUN’d, you’ll be supporting a not for profit organization mostly funded through participant memberships, donations, fundraising and sponsorships.

Get involved with National Disabled Winter Sport Day

Can’t make it to the memorial night?

Get yourself to the slopes on Friday 16th August for National Disabled Winter Sport Day, which is all about celebrating courage, adventure and fun in the alpine environment while raising awareness and donations for DWA.

National Disabled Winter Sports Day recognises the thousands of people living with disabilities and their families and carers who travel to the Australian Alpine in winter from snow play and sit skiers to snowboarders and Paralympians.

People are asked to wear a touch of white on Friday 16 August and help raise money for DWA to continue to provide services and equipment via a gold donation in the DWA donations tins at your resort of choice.

Donate online

If you can’t make it to NDWS Day or WINTERFUN’d, you can still make a donation on the website here. A hundred percent of all donations go directly towards maintaining and developing the services and facilities of DWA, and all donations over $2 are tax deductible.
