Take a snow cat to the mid mountain Kareela Hutte at Thredbo after dark this winter for starlit wine dinners with Australia’s leading vintners.

This July and August, guests can enjoy a series of wine dinners starting on July 17 under a full moon for the first of the season. The Vive la Wine dinner – a battle between old world France and new world Aussie wines. Guests will take the specially fitted out snowcat up the mountain, have some star gazing time and check out the village lights of Thredbo below.

No doubt celebrations will be flowing as the cosy restaurant is also celebrating its 60th birthday. That’s a lot of dancing on tables right there. The first roof raising party was held in 1959 at the mid-mountain venue known for ‘vibrant’ snow soirees, amazing views and some rather ‘interesting’ skiers schussing back down after a long lunch.

The Kareela Winter Wine Series dinners will also feature four hot August nights when guests can look forward to five perfectly prepared courses paired with six or more varietal wines.

Lark Hill Winery will host the wine dinner on August 7, Brokenwood will take over on August 14 followed by Penfolds on August 21 and Giant Steps on August 28.

There’s even a Kareela Hutte birthday dinner on August 24. Sign us up!

A big alpine sky, crisp mountain air, a snowcat ride and incredible cuisine – this will definitely be one to experience this winter. No doubt seats will sell fast, so book ahead.
