Perisher just became the first Australian ski resort to start turning their chairlifts to mark the opening of the ski season this winter.

The Village Eight Express is now officially open on Front Valley after a cheeky under the radar opening at 1pm today. Perisher has now officially opened two days before the first day of ski season and become the first Australian resort open for business for 2018.

The quietest opening by a ski resort in Australasia was marked with a simple social media post saying ‘we’re open.’ Nicely played, Perisher.

Come Saturday the Village Eight Express will also be joined by Carpet 3 for those wanting to tick off first turns for their season on mainly man made snow, albeit not a lot, with groomed runs before hitting up the Peak Music Festival’s 35 artists playing 120 gigs across 10 venues.

Perisher will also celebrate the opening weekend with fireworks on Front Valley on Saturday night.
