Qantas will add 13 extra flights from Sydney to Queenstown during July and August, responding to strong demand and good ski conditions.

Eleven extra services will operate on selected weekdays, meaning Qantas will offer twice-daily flights on these dates. On all other weekdays Qantas will continue to offer a daily service.

Qantas will also add a second daily flight on Saturday 6 and Saturday 13 August – adding to its existing twice-daily Saturday services in July.

Booking patterns suggest that more Australians are looking at a New Zealand ski break after what’s expected to be a strong start to the season this weekend.

It’s the latest example of Qantas taking a flexible approach to its fleet and network in order to meet growing demand for travel to short and medium-haul international destinations – following several earlier announcements of capacity increases on Asian and trans-Tasman routes.

The new flights will depart Sydney as QF181 at 7.10am and arrive in Queenstown at 12.15pm. Return flights will depart as QF182 at 1.20pm and arrive at 2.35pm.

This is the most capacity Qantas has ever operated into Queenstown and the economy fares include a 30kg luggage allowance and no restriction on the number of items you can check in.
