We all know heli skiing is more than a bucket list snow experience, it’s the penultimate dream for many skiers and snowboarders. Ticking it off the list has it’s challenges. Are you good enough? Will your friends be able to keep up? Have you got the dosh?

Then, once you do experience it, you’ll have to find a way to keep your new found addiction alive, year after year. Because, trust us, once is never enough and you will spend your working and waking hours finding ways to get back to that flow state of floating free in blower powder literally thousands of kilometers from anywhere.

There is a way to reduce those challenges and reach the mountain peaks of the heli ski Mecca of interior British Columbia. Canadian Mountain Holidays (CMH) is the original heli ski company of the world and the founders of commercial heli skiing back in 1965.

With over 3 million acres of skiable terrain accessed from twelve remote lodges and multi day offerings from three to seven days, CMH understand the lure of powder and boasting rights and friends made for life.

The crew at Australian ski travel company, Travelplan Ski Holidays, have put together a hosted heli ski trip at both the CMH Gothics Lodge and CMH Cariboos lodge perfect for first time to regular heli skiers, solo snow travellers and families.

Because the trip is hosted by Travelplan team members, Toni and Lauren (Cariboos) and Mr Travelplan himself Toby Withers (Gothics) you’ll have dedicated Aussie heli skiers on the ground with you to show you the ropes and maximize the fun that is a heli ski lodge holiday. Solo skiers will automatically have new friends and fellow Aussies to make all those dry humored asides to in and out of the chopper.

Head to the Gothics for mid winter white room madness from February 16 to 23 or spend the southern summer getting fit to ski in time for The Cariboos in April. The Gothics offers a variety of terrain with big alpine bowls and well spaced tree runs. The lodge is known for it’s laid back vibe and après bar.

Thanks to it’s northern BC location, the Cariboos expereinces longer daylight hours in April which means more vertical on offer for you. The Cariboos tour runs from April 13 to 20 so you’ve got time to put down a deposit and pay off the rest.

You’ll have a personalized experience thanks to Toni and Lauren as well as the high heli ski guide to guest ratio the lodge is known for. Sleep 7 nights in the heli accessed Cariboos Lodge, dine on gourmet lodge fare for breakfast, après and dinner and picnic lunches in the mountains.

Don’t worry about skis, both lodges have powder skis and poles for you to rock the white room, plus avalanche transceivers, shovel, probe, backpacks and training on how to use them. Plus your heli ski guides are accredited ACMG and IFMGA guides. Did we mention a guaranteed 100 000 feet of vertical?

Bed down in your own room at The Gothics with a shared bathroom for AU $15,568 or bring a friend or share with one of the Aussie tour guests at The Cariboos and it’s $10,016 twin share or get a single room for $11,415.

Are you good enough?

Heli yeah, you are. If you are a strong intermediate to advanced skier or snowboarder, comfortable in a variety of conditions and confident in trees, then time to sign up for the trip of your life time. The kind of trip your friends will get sick of you talking about, the one that will flood your social feeds the first time then in memories every year.

You’ll need to be able to ski and ride in control on most terrain, be comfortable in a variety
