A bumper 50cms of spring snow blanketed Mt Buller last week boosting the cover in resort and turning on some of the best skiing and boarding seen this season.

Resort Management CEO Mark Bennetts and Buller Ski Lifts General Manager Laurie Blampied today announced the resort is extending operations until the end of the Victorian school holidays, with the slopes now staying open until Sunday 6 October.

They explained, “We were planning to close on 29 September to get working on our big schedule of improvements including the new 100ML water storage dam, snowmaking on Standard Run and the second stage of the Kooroora development. But with this much snow and superb spring conditions we just had to give everyone the chance to enjoy one more week.

This provides even more value for guests buying an Early Bird Season Memberships or Early Bird Resort Entry Season Pass for 2020 as they can use these passes for the rest of 2019. There’s also great discounted spring passes and accommodation deals available so that families can plan more snow time and stay into the second week of school holidays.”

“We will then get busy making Buller even better. But let’s all enjoy one more superb week of spring skiing and boarding while we can!”

Standard Run is the first stage of a massive snowmaking expansion at Mt Buller enabled by the construction of the new dam.  Mt Buller Resort Management has confirmed $11.3m for the dam project including $7.5m from Regional Development Victoria.  Buller Ski Lifts is matching the government contribution with $8m towards more snowmaking.

Mt Buller will be bustling with changes from 7 October as Resort Management rolls out an extensive schedule of works including sealing the new 200 vehicle car park and helipad on Corn Hill Road.

Stage Two of the $40m Kooroora Development will also restart as soon as the snow season wraps up with crew ready to complete works on the Kooroora retail precinct and upper level apartments, adding the final touches to transforming the southern quarter of the Village Square.

Mt Buller currently has a snowdepth of 81-147cms of snow and 20 lifts in operation.  The resort is remaining open for snow season until Sunday 6 October.
