Breckenridge Ski Resort in Colorado has reported an inbounds avalanche this afternoon USA time. The avalanche activity occurred off the Imperial Express SuperChair.

Breckenridge Ski Resort has confirmed that there has been inbounds avalanche activity on an expert-rated trail off the Imperial Express SuperChair early this afternoon. The chair is the highest chairlift in North America and the terrain it services was closed yesterday due to extreme avalanche danger.

The double black Imperial Bowl is high alpine above the tree line style terrain. At this stage there has been no reports of any skiers or boarders caught in the slide and no guests are believed to be injured.

Colorado is experiencing an historical avalanche alert this week with four out of 10 avalanche zones within the region all on a level 5 extreme alert. This is the first time in known history that this has occurred.
 
Both natural and controlled avalanches have occurred throughout the state shutting down motorways and trapping cars.
