While many believe the winter Olympics are about the skiing, skating and snowboarding, the real competition lies in which country can produce the hottest –  and most snuggly – lewks for their team to slosh around in on the slopes of the host city.

If the Summer Olympic uniforms are a catalogue from your local regional sports team, (ew), the winter Olympic Uniforms these days SCREAM couture like a lost mountaineer yodelling across a cavernous precipice.

The photo shoots alone could fill the pages of a Vogue annual, with major brands like Ralph Lauren, Emporio Armani, Ben Sherman and Moncler kitting out the athletes and ensuring they’re not only race ready but apparently ready for a major catwalk moment too.

Sure, the athletes will win medals, and pundits will argue it is the medal tally that defines the true winners every four years. But for me, the real winners are those whose threads I deem the most worthy.  Here are 14 countries and their uniforms, ranked from “meh: to the MAMMA MIA! {*chef’s kiss*}

14. New Zealand

New Zealand seems to have picked the international uniform for Finance Bros for their team in 2026: Kathmandu puffer jackets and vests. This is very uninspiring.

13. Sweden

Styled in the likeness of the giant plastic IKEA bag you’re given when you enter the homeware juggernaut, these Uniqlo uniforms are majorly lacklustre.

12. Austria

These look like standard issue fits for any ol’ snow sports enthusiast, rather than the most elite in the world. Meh.

11. Australia

Australia is a proud nation, boasting hundreds of years of ugly Olympic Uniforms. This is one of the better looking Uniforms for Australia in recent history, no doubt due to the minimal green and gold, which everyone knows are the poor cousins of the colour wheel. While this is giving a degree of cricket umpire, we’ll get what we get, and we won’t get upset. (Ed’s note: The Author is an Aussie)

10. Iceland

Can anyone blame the Icelandians for going into full camouflage and hiding in a glacier? With Trump eyeing neighbouring Greenland, I don’t blame them for wanting to be inconspicuous.

9. Brasil

Beam me up Scottie! While not known for their winter athleticism, the Brazilians will be well prepared for an impromptu trip to outer space during the games.

8. Canada

Lululemon once again created the uniforms for the Canadian Team. I think the creation of the maple leaf in the jackets is interesting, however mildly uggo. I’m not sure how I feel about the burgundy either, I prefer the bright red! Oh Canada…

7. Finland

I am absolutely obsessed with these white boots! The ombre puffer jackets are nice too!

6. Norway

Apparently Norway is the most successful country in Winter Olympics history. While these uniforms are cute, they’re not overly toasting my marshmallow with this look.

5. France

This is an interesting muted colour scheme for the French, with baby blue and pink. Is there a gender reveal somewhere? I think they look youthful and chic.

4. Great Britain

I adore these cute knits from team Great Britain and the matching beanies. Very retro and dorky cute.

3. Italy’s victory presenting uniforms

Speaking of retro chic – team Italy look AMAZING in these 60s inspired fits. Are they 60’s inspired? *furiously googles*. They look like flight attendants who may or may not also be spies. LOVE

2. Mongolia

Team Mongolia has done it again! They had incredible ceremonial uniforms for the last summer games and here they’ve referenced the traditional attire of the Great Mongol Empire. These are beautiful and so different to everything else we’ve seen.

  1. USA

My Best on Ground winter olympic uniforms for 2026 are awarded to team USA. I’m sorry but Ralph Lauren absolutely SLAYED this year – we’re seeing cable knit sweaters, pea coats, gorgeous knits and modern puffer jackets. I would pay TOP DOLLAR for every single item I see here.*

*SUBTLE HINT FOR RL to please send me things as lol, I can’t actually afford to buy anything from them.
