This blog post may produce serious powder envy

Patrick Nelson’s a nice enough guy. He has a good smile, in that All American pearly white way. His handshake is firm and he makes a good powder turn. He also works at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort which means, as a journalist, from time to time he sends me emails that I sob into.

Today was one of those.

It started like this:

“With over 5 meters of total snowfall season to date and snow depths of over 200cm, this marks the deepest December on this date in 40 years in Jackson Hole.”

WHAT? No ‘Dear Rachael’ or ‘Hi Rach’

“The aerial tram opened up on Sunday afternoon, offering up 1,261 continuous vertical meters of skiing and riding. In the past two days we’ve had over 70cm of snow the skiing is fantastic. It has been a whirlwind of fun and amazing skiing. My legs are shot!”

ohhhh poor Patrick but nice call on the metric, appreciated.

“Adding to the excitement, the grand opening of our new Sweetwater Gondola will take place on Saturday. Sweetwater is a two-stage gondola with a first stop providing a dramatic improvement in the beginner experience, and the second stop dropping skiers at the base of the Casper chairlift and near the Teton Lift (new in 15/16). This is an express route to some of the best intermediate terrain on the mountain. The opening of Sweetwater will mean that all lifts at JHMR are open for the season.”

Then, bless him (or curse him) he sent me these pics from the last couple of days.

I mean, really Patrick? This isn’t a love email it’s torture. This, you had to send me this video of Griffin Post before I have even had my coffee?

Patrick is also a name dropper.  A BIG name dropper. Travis Rice style name dropper. Actually, well, Travis Rice exactly name dropper. Is that you Patrick filming behind the lens?

Keep this up Patrick and I may just need to road trip your way. Tell Travis to wait for me. You’ll do that, won’t you, us being e-friends and all?
