Thredbo release their lift pass pricing for the 2020 ski season

Thredbo have today released their new ticket prices for the 2020 season, cue the social media frenzy and pass me the popcorn.

The resort announced last week they would be running at 50% capacity due to Covid-19 restrictions, and that season passes would be refunded in favour of a book per calendar day method. Season pass holders were then notified they would receive up to 75% off day passes.

Today the resort announced pricing for the passes that will be released in what will no doubt be a web stampede at 11.59pm on June 10 for those that want to ski this season.

Let’s hope the traffic doesn’t crash the site as skiers and boarders fight for the limited daily tickets on offer. Remember, just six weeks ago we didn’t think there’d be a season.

One day lift pass prices for 2020

Thredbo had already announced on their Covid FAQ page that lift passes would only be $10 more than last year.

More information was revealed today. There are no discounts for multi day passes (unless you’re a season pass holder) nor based on seasonality this year and it’s the same price every day throughout the season June to September.

Prices are as follows:

22 to 64 years: $159.00

18 to 21 years: $149.00

13 to 17 years: $95.00

5 to 12 years: $85.00

64 to 69 years: $85.00

70+ years: $40.00

Lift Passes | Season Pass Holder Discount

Last week Thredbo revealed Season Pass holders would all receive a refund and would all be eligible for specific Season Pass holder discounts. This would be for 365 passes and winter passes as well as those who had paid the deposit and still had funds outstanding to secure the pass.

Today the resort revealed the savings for Season Pass Holders would be between 40 – 75% off of one day lift pass prices dependent on day of week, and week of season. They have also allocated a portion of the daily inventory for all season pass guests to access at a discounted rate.

To give you an idea of how the discounts will work, 40% discount is for the entire July school holidays and 75% discount will be available Tuesday to Thursday during September (spring skiing).

Additional discounts for season pass holders will also be applied after you purchase 10, 15 and 20 days within our 2020 winter season. More details will be released next week.

How To Lock In Your Passes This Season

Go online before June 10 and set up your MyThredbo account. You’ll need a passport photo and full names and dates of birth of everyone in your group. Then plan the days/dates you want and get ready at 11.59pm on June 10 to start purchasing. Kind of like buying tickets to an Ed Sheeran concert, line up and fight for what’s yours!

There is limited capacity per day of tickets, but as Stuart Diver, Thredbo GM, revealed last week there may be more tickets released over the season.

Backcountry Access Pass

The resort has also confirmed there may be a Backcountry Access Pass this year but will release more information once backcountry terrain opens up.

So, make of it what you will and get your devices set for 11.59pm on June 10. Let us know how you go, but don’t wake us up till the morning.
